La tradición es el proceso de entrega y recepción de los valores, creencias y prácticas que definen a una colectividad. No debe entenderse como algo estático o inmutable, sino como un flujo dinámico de sabiduría que se adapta a las nuevas realidades a medida que los pueblos migran y se transforman, asegurando que el pasado siga alimentando el presente.
Tradition is the process of delivering and receiving the values, beliefs, and practices that define a collectivity. It should not be understood as something static or immutable, but as a dynamic flow of wisdom that adapts to new realities as peoples migrate and transform, ensuring that the past continues to nourish the present.
1. LA TRADICIÓN COMO ACTO DE TRANSMISIÓN

Etimológicamente, la tradición implica "entregar". Es el acto generacional de pasar el testigo del conocimiento, desde las técnicas artesanales hasta las normas éticas. En las culturas orientales y gitanas, esta transmisión ha sido predominantemente oral y vivencial, lo que ha permitido una flexibilidad única para sobrevivir a través de los siglos y las distancias.
Etymologically, tradition implies "handing over." It is the generational act of passing the torch of knowledge, from artisanal techniques to ethical norms. In Oriental and Gypsy cultures, this transmission has been predominantly oral and experiential, which has allowed for a unique flexibility to survive through centuries and distances.

Las tradiciones que perduran son aquellas que saben dialogar con el cambio. Las migraciones han demostrado que, cuando un pueblo se desplaza, su tradición no desaparece, sino que se reviste de nuevos elementos del entorno. Este proceso de resiliencia permite que la esencia de una identidad se mantenga viva incluso a miles de kilómetros de su origen geográfico.
Traditions that endure are those that know how to dialogue with change. Migrations have shown that when a people moves, their tradition does not disappear; instead, it takes on new elements from the environment. This process of resilience allows the essence of an identity to remain alive even thousands of kilometers away from its geographic origin.

Desde una perspectiva pedagógica, la tradición ofrece un marco de referencia que otorga seguridad y pertenencia al individuo. Al conocer nuestras tradiciones, comprendemos que somos parte de una cadena humana de experiencias, lo que facilita el desarrollo de una identidad sólida y una mayor apertura hacia la alteridad.
From a pedagogical perspective, tradition offers a frame of reference that provides security and a sense of belonging to the individual. By knowing our traditions, we understand that we are part of a human chain of experiences, which facilitates the development of a solid identity and a greater openness toward others.
