Todo programa radial debe contar con unas características, que proporcionen consistencia, estabilidad, y una calidad de programación, que le defina como un trabajo de calidad y prestigio, cualidades necesarias para mantenerse en el tiempo, y que permitan mantener una cantidad de radio-oyentes, que aseguren una amplia permanencia de su programación, y garanticen una sintonía que se mantenga y se incremente con el tiempo. Este curso le dará algunas pautas generales a personas que están iniciándose en el trabajo radial, y requieren unas series de orientaciones básicas, que les permitan lograr sus objetivos de manera satisfactoria.

1. EL TIEMPO EN LA RADIO / TIME ON THE RADIO

El uso del tiempo es vital para una programación que desea satisfacer a una audiencia que está en sintonía, y se necesita distribuirlo de manera eficaz y oportuna. Cuando hablamos del tiempo en la radio, nos queremos referir a dos condiciones específicas: el tiempo en el que el programa se mantiene al aire, y el tiempo en el que se redistribuye cada una de las secciones del programa. En esta oportunidad, vamos a enfocarnos al tiempo en el que se redistribuye cada una de las secciones del programa.
Cuando las secciones del programa no están bien definidas, es totalmente difícil controlar el uso del tiempo en el lapso en el que el programa se mantiene al aire. Es por ello que muchos de los programas radiales, que tienen una misma duración al aire, pueden estar presentando mayor problema de adaptación de la sintonía a su programación, que incluso otros programas que tienen la misma duración en el aire. Lo importante no es el tiempo que dura al aire el programa, sino el tiempo que consume el programa en asuntos importantes, y en asuntos menos importantes. Lo que mantiene a la sintonía enfocada en un programa es que le brinde fidelidad en cuanto a la manera precisa de trabajar los aspectos más importantes, y no desperdicie el tiempo en cosas totalmente vanas e insignificantes.

When we talk about time on the radio, we mean two specific conditions: the time the program stays on the air, and the time in which each of the sections of the program is redistributed. On this occasion, we are going to focus on the time in which each of the sections of the program is redistributed.
When the program sections are not well defined, it is totally difficult to control the use of time in the period in which the program stays on the air. This is why many radio programs that have the same duration on the air may be presenting a greater problem of adapting the tuning to their programming, even more than other programs that have the same duration on the air. The important thing is not the time the program lasts on the air, but the time the program consumes in important matters and in less important matters. Hacer un programa radial es más que tener un tiempo en la radio para entretener a los radio-escuchas; todo programa debe tener un fin en sí mismo, esto lo proporciona la escogencia de la función para la cual se quiere llevar a cabo la elaboración de ese programa radial.
Ejemplos: Un programa radial puede ser estrictamente de Noticias, Educativo, Deportivo, Político, Cultural, etc.. Ningún programa puede ser netamente neutro, que mezcle gran variedad de disciplinas pero no tenga una característica propia que le defina por categoría de programación. No se puede empezar a trabajar en las secciones de un programa sin tener definido cuál es el objetivo principal y su orientación básica.

Las secciones del programa deben ser un complemento para cumplir con el objetivo general. Estas secciones deben continuar con la labor general, ya que cumplen con un papel de armonizar todo el contenido de una manera dinámica y activa.
Objetivos a alcanzar:
- Estipular la variedad de técnicas y recursos (Ej: Entrevistas, Invitados especiales).
- Definir secciones permanentes como base de la organización (Ej: Música, Llamadas de oyentes, Noticias).
- Definir secciones alternas o para momentos especiales (Ej: Invitaciones especiales, Concursos para premios).

The sections of the program must be a complement to fulfill the general objective. These sections must continue with the general work, as they fulfill a role of harmonizing all the content in a dynamic and active way.
Objectives to achieve:
1. Stipulate the variety of techniques and resources (e.g., Interviews, Special guests).
2. Define permanent sections as the basis of the organization (e.g., Music, Listener calls, News).
3. Define alternate sections or for special moments (e.g., Special invitations, Contests for prizes).
4. RADIO. LA MÚSICA / RADIO. MUSIC
Español:
La música es un complemento muy significativo ya que crea un enlace entre el oyente y su programa favorito, específicamente si guarda relación con el estilo del programa. Es necesario seleccionar la música orientada a satisfacer las necesidades del público al que intenta alcanzar (Infantil, Juvenil, Adulto Contemporáneo, etc.). Es necesario estipular un tiempo de duración prudente; ni muy excesivo ni muy escaso, simplemente considerar la cantidad adecuada para que el programa no sea ni muy interrumpido ni muy aburrido.

5. RADIO. VOCABULARIO / RADIO. VOCABULARY
Español:
El lenguaje empleado debe generar confianza, credibilidad, profesionalismo y ética profesional. Hay personas que confunden el lenguaje popular con el lenguaje vulgar o corriente. Lo importante es transmitir la información adaptándose al nivel de la audiencia, lo cual no indica el uso de un lenguaje callejero. Todo programa debe presentar un carácter ético-profesional, tomando en cuenta que puede ser escuchado por personas de diversos niveles intelectuales. El uso de un lenguaje grotesco es uno de los detalles que hacen que un programa decline y pierda audiencia.

6. RADIO E IMPROVISACIÓN / RADIO AND IMPROVISATION

La técnica de improvisación se puede utilizar en casos en los que no se ponga en riesgo el desarrollo del programa. El programa no puede basarse única y exclusivamente en la improvisación, ya que puede generar caos (olvido de factores importantes, interrupciones que desvían el tema o llamadas que desvirtúan el asunto). Es muy importante llevar el tema y la programación escrita y bien estructurada para no perder la secuencia.

The program cannot be based solely and exclusively on improvisation, as it can generate chaos (forgetting important factors, interruptions that divert the topic, or calls that detract from the subject). 7. RADIO. LOS PROTAGONISTAS / RADIO. THE PROTAGONISTS

Es muy importante que las personas al frente del micrófono estén de acuerdo con el tema, conozcan los objetivos y tengan las mismas opiniones. Un programa donde los integrantes se contradicen o generan polémicas hace que los oyentes pierdan confianza. Tampoco es saludable que los conductores compitan por ser más elocuentes o se interrumpan entre sí. Deben generar una percepción de armonía, incluso con los invitados, ya que interrumpirlos genera rechazo en los oyentes.

8. RADIO. PRESENTACIÓN DEL TEMA / RADIO. PRESENTATION OF THE TOPIC

Los programas bien definidos siempre presentan una misma tónica dirigida hacia un mismo enfoque (Salud, Cultura, Deporte, Educación, etc.). A partir del objetivo general se deben seleccionar los temas. Es una regla básica seleccionar temas que aborden diferentes problemáticas manteniendo siempre un mismo enfoque. Esto permite que la radio tenga un carácter multidisciplinario organizado en una estructura sistemática.
